Gaining independence in a retail role
An employee works in a retail store and often found it planning, remembering instructions, and switching between tasks. At the start of each shift, their supervisor gives a list of tasks to complete throughout the day. It includes things like restocking shelves, folding returns, and updating signage.
With Brain in Hand
They used the diary feature to add their start and finish times, and divided the day into time blocks, for example:
- 10:00–10:30 restock socks
- 10:30–11:00 fold returns
- 11:00–11:15 break
Each task had its own checklist in their solution pack. For “Restocking,” they’d written:
- Check stockroom
- Bring trolley
- Refill shelves
- Tidy labels
The app sends reminders which help them move smoothly from one task to the next and take breaks on time. If they were interrupted, they could quickly check the app to see what they’d been doing before - no need to ask for help.
The result
They felt more independent, more confident, and better able to manage their shift from start to finish.
