Empowering neurodivergent success in the workplace: Jess’s story

Challenges before Brain in Hand
Jess is autistic and has ADHD, she struggled with the demands of a busy office environment, long commutes, and managing her emotions at work. Sensory overwhelm, fatigue from travel, and difficulty recognising early signs of burnout meant she regularly experienced severe burnout episodes - often resulting time off work. She felt anxious, misunderstood, and uncertain about how to manage and sustain her career, and she lacked support from colleagues who understood neurodiversity.
How Brain in Hand helped
Brain in Hand provided coaching and daily tools that helped Jess understand her emotions, recognise early signs of burnout, and build strategies to stay calm and regulated. Through coaching, she explored reasonable adjustments, improved communication with her manager, and built confidence around expressing her autistic needs. Daily mood check-ins encouraged reflection and emotional awareness, and tools in the app helped her feel supported when overwhelmed.
“It's really useful because sometimes I struggle to come up with ideas for myself and I can get overwhelmed and she's given me tips and tactics to help when those situations arise.
And I just feel really supported.”
The results
Jess has not experienced burnout or taken time off work since using Brain in Hand - breaking a long pattern of yearly extended absences. Her anxiety has reduced significantly, and she feels calmer, more confident, and proud of her performance at work. She now feels settled in her role and able to pursue personal and professional development. Jess describes this as the most balanced and confident period of her life, and credits Brain in Hand with empowering her to stay in work, thrive in her role, and build a stronger future.
