Time management challenges: Turning unstructured time into productive study
✔️2.4 Time management and organisation
✔️2.9 Travel and access to the Higher Education environment
The student has a good level of focus on their course, but due to making poor use of the unstructured time between lectures, they’re falling behind and starting to feel overwhelmed by the amount of work they have to complete by the end of the term.
With Brain in Hand
Brain in Hand provided a holistic solution that helped the student stay on track. The student used Brain in Hand to plan their day using the diary feature.

The student set prompts and reminders for activities and travel time so that they could plan how much time to spend in the library but also get an reminder when they needed to start packing up to go to their next lecture. This reduced anxiety and stress because the student didn't have to worry about timekeeping. The student also broke down the work they needed to complete into manageable tasks and scheduled these to be with in their free time.
The results
The student developed a stronger sense of structure and balance in their day. Planning how to use unstructured time helped them stay focused, reduce procrastination, and make steady progress with coursework. They became more confident in managing their workload, more consistent in their study habits, and better able to maintain focus throughout the term.
