Building confidence for presentations and Q&A sessions

Earlier in the semester, the student was asked to deliver a presentation to their peers and tutor group. The assignment included a Q&A session at the end, which made the student anxious. Speaking in front of an audience and responding to unscripted questions felt far outside their comfort zone, and they began to feel reluctant about this part of their studies.

With Brain in Hand

The student turned to Brain in Hand for support in preparing for the presentation. They accessed their personalised solution packs, which contained strategies and tips for managing presentation nerves. Using the timeline feature, they reviewed past successes to identify approaches that had worked for them before, helping them feel better prepared.

In the days leading up to the presentation, the student tracked their mood to monitor stress levels and identify when extra support might be needed. On particularly anxious moments, they pressed the on-demand support to speak with a trained responder, receiving guidance and reassurance to calm nerves and regain focus.

By using Brain in Hand, the student was able to approach their presentation with far greater confidence and control than they had anticipated. On the day of the presentation, they delivered their talk clearly and at a steady pace, maintaining composure even when unexpected questions arose during the Q&A.
