Funding for Brain in Hand

Brain in Hand is funded via two main routes and is also available by private direct payments. Primary funding routes are:

The Care Act

The Care Act is the correct route for:

  • assistive technology
  • cognitive prompts
  • overwhelm/anxiety support
  • day structure
  • mood regulation tools

NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC)

CHC is not designed to fund low-level, preventative, independence-focused support. This is according to the legal acts, however Brain in Hand can be clinically justified within a CHC package where it demonstrably reduces risk, supports management of complex health needs, and prevents deterioration or crisis by providing structured, real-time support aligned to the individual’s assessed primary health need. Health, in the form of partnering and integration are taking an interest and responsibility for early intervention, prevention and support whilst waiting for diagnosis.
