Before using Brain in Hand, Remmie’s life was very different, she wasn’t in work and had just started moving out of mental health services. She’d accumulated a lot of different strategies, but struggled to put those into action on a day-to-day basis. Remmie gravitates to work she is passionate about and becomes very focused; however this resulted in burn out and exhaustion.

How Brain in Hand helped

As Remmie started using Brain in Hand, she realised that having somewhere that she could easily access all her strategies really benefited her. Remmie used the diary feature to plan and organise her time so that she could balance work life and personal life. This helped her organise all the different needs in the week and self-regulate. She was able to go back to work and start going out more, socialising much more often. Remmie found that it made her a lot less isolated. Remmie’s coaching sessions have helped her creatively think with her coach of the best ways to use Brain in Hand to fit with her way of thinking.

“It helped me to get back into work at the same time as taking the next step in my mental health recovery and getting that work life balance while trying to get out and meet people as well”

The results

Brain in Hand has been with Remmie for three years and although her needs have changed over that time, Brain in Hand has adapted to suit her. Remmie now feels more in control and empowered and feels like she’s been really listened to compared to previous experiences.

“I felt like I'd been working together and I'd say that's been therapeutic because that's given me more confidence then perhaps to interact with other people and feel like my voice might be heard in different situations.”
