Monitoring wellbeing with the check-in scale
A quick guide to using Brain in Hand’s check-in scale to understand patterns, track wellbeing, and access support when it’s needed most.
The check-in scale helps you quickly understand how things are going and spot changes early. It’s designed to make moments of reflection simple, intuitive and supportive, whether you’re just doing a quick pulse-check or taking a moment to gather your thoughts.
From your Brain in Hand home screen, you can open a check-in at any time.
Watch this short, one-minute walkthrough to see how the check-in scale works in the app:
How it works
When you start a check-in, you’ll see a simple five-point scale:
-
Things are great
-
It’s going well
-
It’s manageable
-
Something’s off
-
Things are hard
Choose the option that best describes how you’re feeling right now or how you’re finding a situation.
You can then add optional tags to help you spot patterns over time - for example, what you were doing, where you were, or anything else that might be useful. There’s also a comment box if you want to capture a brief note about what’s on your mind.
When extra support appears
If your service includes on-demand support, you’ll see the additional support options when:
-
you select things are hard, or
-
you select something’s off several times in the same day
You’ll also see gentle prompts with simple strategies you might want to use in the moment.
See your patterns over time
Every check-in is stored in your timeline, helping you and your coach understand:
-
what tends to affect your wellbeing
-
what helps
-
when things may need adjusting
It’s a simple way to build awareness, reflect, and feel more in control of your day.
